mujh ko shikast-e-dil ka mazaa yaad aa gayaa
tum kyuN udaas ho gaye, kyaa yaad aa gayaa
kehne ko zindagii thii bahut muKhtasar magar
kuch yuN basar hu’ii ke Khuda yaad aa gayaa
barse baGhair hi jo ghataa ghir ke khul gayii
ek be-vafaa kaa ahd-e-vafaa yaad aa gayaa
maanGeinge ab duaa ke use bhuul jaayein ham
lekin jo vo bawaqt-e-du’aa yaad aa gayaa !
hairat hai tumko dekh ke masjid meN ai Khumar
kyaa baat ho gayii jo Khudaa yaad aa gayaa

Bravo! Great work on this website. However, this ghazal has several errors in it. Here is the corrected version. Please update.

Khumar Shabis one of my favorite poets. The depth in his simplistic urdu is a “rarity”. Wish you can put as many of his poems in his own voice. If you peruse some of the Mushairas in Dubai (Unicarians) or in USA (AMU Alumni associations), they do have some of his renditions.
It will be great if you could also include a brief on his life and death…
MY Favorite poet. Simple, but with great depth. I always enjoyed his rendition as well.
Put some more of his works on the net.
