Thanks a lot. It was nice to listen original voice.
It’s very touching to listen to this beautiful ghazal in the original voice. Great presentation! Each word sounds deep, and meaningful.

very deep….just like a cool darkness……….
I thank God for two things:
(1) Creating such a web site through His created, and
(2) Making me stumble upon it apparently accidentally, but I feel it as a reward for what ever I did in His service and in the service of His created.
May God bless the masters of this web site.
I know now how to spend every minute of my life, it is bliss, bliss and bliss.
Capt. M. Srinivasulu.
It’s one of the immortal ghazals. And is sung in the exact way, the shaayar must have thought of, by Raees Khan.
Dear Mohib,
I have some problem with translation of pas-e-aa’inaa as in front of mirror, to me pas is behind, therefore this translates into behind the mirror. Correct me if I am wrong.
regards,
Syed
The Translation of two urdu words is wrong:
Sar-e-Aaina means a mirror which is openly visible
Pas-e-Aaina means a mirror which is hidden
sar-e-aa’iinaa meraa aks hai pas-e-aa’iinaa ko’ii aur hai
means My image is on mirror of open – but in mirror of hidden the image is somebody else’s
Please correct it
Thanks.

I think the original one is best because of its simplicity. If we remove the original one from comparison, Jagjit’s look simplest. But if music is to be added I would wgo ith the most complex but classical way of Ghazal singing of MH.
wah bahut hi umda ghazal . bahut khoob
When I heard the audio clip, I found that…
- one of the stanzas that Salimji has recited is not added here (and that one is one the best ones in this Ghazal… Tujhe dushmano ki khabar na thi, mujhe dosto ka pata na he,…)
- in the stanza “teri roshani meri…” should actually be “meri roshani teri…”
Can someone please update it? It would be awesome to get the complete poetry here.
And as always, it is wonderful to have one place where so many good Ghazals are present.
Very Nice Ghazal near to Reality Of Humen Beings. I will just Say Waaaah Sir Saleem Quiser.
Friends,
This is simply an awesome piece of shayari.
this ghazal also sung by great singer Mehdi Hassan and a marvellous piece of our calssical sangeet. and bu the way ‘sar-e-aina’means on the mirror reflection we see on the surface of mirror and ‘pas-e-aaina’means behind the mirror where that reflection is created, ”pas”’in farsi simply mean what is in urdu ”peechay” behind.
