ye misraa nahiiN hai, vaziifaa meraa hai
Khudaa hai muhabbat, muhabbat Khudaa hai
kahuuN kis tarah maiN ke vo bevafaa hai
mujhe uskii majbuurioN kaa pataa hai
havaa ko bahut sarkashii kaa nashaa hai
magar ye na bhuule, diyaa bhi diyaa hai
main usse judaa huN, vo mujhse judaa hai
muhabbat ke maaroN ka fazl-e-Khudaa hai
nazar meN hai jalte makaanoN ka manzar
chamakte hain jugnuu to dil kaaNptaa hai
unheN bhuulna yaa unheN yaad karnaa
vo bicchRe hain jabse yahii mashgalaa hai
guzartaa hai har shakhs chehraa chupaaye
ko’ii raah mein aaiinaa rakh gayaa hai
kahaaN tu “Khumar” aur kahaaN kufr-e-taubaa
tujhe paarsaaoN ne bahkaa diyaa hai

khumar sb was my all time favourite. he is in the class of mir, iqbal and ghalib.
Truly a great shayar and wonderful renditions of his simple kalaam.
I wish he had more of his recordings in his own voice.
