    1. One of my all time favorites… thanks !

    2. Just noticed… last line should have ’saaye’ in place of ’shaKhs’. Fix it when you get chance.

Choicest composition and equally well rendered by the master.Progressive poet , poet by innate nature and communist by intellectual compulsions. After 1947,most popular Pakistani poet in India.
Son of a poor school teacher who revolted against wearing coarse dress presented by his father `Ham kammal ke bane kapRe nahi pahneNge` and ran away from home-`Farar`.
Today stands tall as `Faraz `
His other compositions have been rendered by eminent Indian singers. In his own words `meri gazaloN ko aam logoN tak pahuchane meN Hindustani gulukaroN ne ayetrafe-muhbbat kiya jin meN Lata,Asha,Jagjiit Singh,Pankaj Uddhas—–shamil haiN`

This Ghazal is one of the few greatest Ghazals of the 20th century. We are lucky that respected Ahmed Faraz lives in our times. His other Ghazal “Ranjish hi sahi Dil hi dukhane ke liye aa” also “must read” Ghazals. Poetry is the ultimate destination of the seeker. And poet like Faraz sees things in human situations which cant be seen by ordinary mortals like us.

    11. Ghazals & Poetry have that uniqueness - The more you think about it, the more myriad our interpretations become. The beauty of Faraz is that his poetry is almost bottomless. The more you think about it, the more essence you get out of it. Ranjish hi sahi is one such classic example.

This Ghazal rendered by master Mehdi is real soulful - the raaga, the extended aalap, the depth and rage of Mehdi’s voice is just elevating!!
