Translation by Anisur Rahman from Fire and the Rose.

Our City

This city of ours is really strange:
it whispers at night
when we walk on the streets,
it beckons, and shows its wounds
as if they were the secrets of the heart.

Its windows are all shut;
its lanes silent;
its walls dead tired;
its doors sealed.
In houses only the corpses have
stayed on for years on rent.

Another translation:

Our city is strange -
it whispers in the
nights when you
walk on roads
calls you to show
its wounds as if
the secrets of
its heart

its windows shut
alleys quiet
walls tired
doors locked
only the corpses stayed
in rented houses for years.
