merii tanhaa’ii kaa ye andhaa shigaaf
ye ke saaNsoN kii tarah mere saath chaltaa rahaa
jo merii nabz kii maanind mere saath jiyaa
jisko aate hu’e jaate hu’e be-shumaar lamhe
apnii sanglaaKh ungliyoN se gehraa karte rahe, karte gaye
kisii kii oak paa lene ko lahuu bahtaa rahaa
kisii ko ham-nafas kahne kii justujuu meN rahaa
ko’ii to ho jo be-saaKhtaa isko pahchaane
taRap ke palte, achaanak ise pukaar uThThe

I love this poetry of Meena Kumari…I in love with her acting and poetry. I think she was and is one of the best Indian actress ever. I love her reality, the way she expressed her feelings.
I used to think Meena Kumari sucked, now I am afraid I gave her too little credit, she seems deep. Still cannot believe these poems are not ghost-written. simply fantatstic, and the vocal rendition, sone pe suhaaga - fantastic!

and hum-shaakh is sitting on the same side (branch).

Meena Kumari is my all time favorite actress! I own almost all her movies n there will never be another awesome actress like her, to ever grace the indian cinema screen.She was simply the best!
I n poetry, poet’s not only garments the language with words interwoven, with emotions, spirituality, worldly affairs of common man struggling for his existence in the materialistic world, he also give his life and breath to the words which are dead in language!!!!!
