tuune ye phuul jo zulfoN meN sajaa rakhaa hai
ek diyaa hai jo andheroN meN jalaa rakhaa hai

(zulf : tresses; diyaa : lamp; andheroN : in darkness; jalaa : lighted)

jiit le jaaye ko’ii mujhko nasiiboN vaalaa
zindagii ne mujhe daaNv pe lagaa rakhaa hai

(nasiib : destiny; daaNv : at stake)

jaane kab aaye ko’ii dil meN jhaaNkne vaalaa
is liye maiN ne girebaan khulaa rakhaa hai

(girebaan : collar/shirt)

imtehaaN aur mere zabt kaa tum kyaa loge
maiN ne dhaRkan ko bhii siine meN chhupaa rakhaa hai

(imtehaaN : test; zabt : restrain; dhaRkan : heart-beat; siina : chest)

dil tha ek sholaa magar biit gaye din vo “Qateel”
ab kuredo na ise raakh meN kyaa rakha hai

(sholaa : ball of fire; kurednaa : to scratch or scrape; raakh : ashes)

`kya bhala muzko parakhne se natiija nikla
zakhme dil aap ki nazroN se bhi gahra nikla`
