tabiiyat in dinoN be-gaana-e-Gham hotii jaatii hai
mere hisse ki goyaa har Khushii kam hotii jaatii hai
(be-gaanaa : heedless, carefree)
qayaamat kyaa! ye ai husn-e-do-aalam hotii jaatii hai
ke mehfil to vohii hai, dilkashi kam hotii jaati hai
(husn-e-do-aalam : beauty of the two worlds; dilkashii : charm)
vohii mai-Khaana-o-sahbaa, vohi saaghar, vohii shiishaa
magar aavaaz-e-nushaanosh maddham hotii jaatii hai
(mai-Khaana-o-sahbaa : tavern and the wine; saaghar : goblet; shiishaa : glass; nushaanosh : ?)
vohii hai shaahid-o-saaqii magar dil bujhtaa jaataa hai
vohii hai shammaa lekin raushnii kam hotii jaatii hai
(shaahid : witness; saaqii : cup-bearer)
vohii hai zindagii lekin “Jigar” yeh haal hai apnaa
ke jaise zindagii se zindagii kam hotii jaatii hai

Jigar at his best. I remember the same ghazal sung by Vinod Sehgal. The Begum Akhtar one is a classical treat!
that is one gorgeous gazal.. just a quik question, my urdu aint great.. iv realised a lot of ghazals end with the name of the poet… like here:
vohii hai zindagii lekin “Jigar” yeh haal hai apnaa
… why is that? and i though jigar meant soul or heart or something along those lines. help! thanks

Usually the last sher of the Ghazal incorporates the name of the poet and is known as maqtaa.
The exact translation of ‘jigar’ is liver in English but it is used quite beautifully in Urdu couplets.
i wish i can download this ghazal from anywhere.yesterday night i sit all night and searching this ghaza@ tabiiyat in dinon@ by begum akhtar but couldnt found.
kya nayab khazana hai .jab bhee dil kuchh maangta hai edhr chla aata hoon.
magar aavaaz-e-nushaanosh maddham hotii jaatii hai
The closest i can come is this words as per fairooz-ul-lughat
nau_noosh = aish–o-tarb, naghma sunna sharab peena
