Thanks once again. There is another version in the movie Muhafiz (In Custody), I have not been able to find this movie in musicindiaonline and elsewhere, if you find this nazm, or the others from that movie, will appreciate if you can put up the link.
Thanks!
thanks for the tanslation and sharing a wonderful piece of poetry. highly appeciated!!
tohmat-e-ishq-e-poshiidaa baaqii nahiiN
Very beautiful poem by faiz-sahib indeed!! But please note the correction, “baaqii” in the above line should be “kaafii”, I think it is a miss print.
Thanks,
Sachin
really this poetry remind me of bhopal where this song was picturised behind TAJUL MASAJID BHOPAL really it make me emotional when i was gone there in bhpal this song was in my mind when i was in compound of tajul masajid really great poetry
Can someone give a complete illustration of the nazm. All the words are translated but I want to know the contextual meaning as faiz shahab meant it.
Thank you very much for sharing the lyrics and for translating the difficult words. It is so beautiful!
I must say, Nayarra Noor has done justice to this awesome piece of Faiz…
….breathless!!
Let’s go today to the bazaar in chains
The tearful eye, the nosiy spirit, are not enough.
The accusaion of hidden love is not enough.
Let’s go today to the bazaar in chains
Let’s go with hands waving, intoxicated, dancing.
Let’s go with dust on our heads, blood on our sleeves,
Let’s go to the city our love lives in
Everyone is watching
The city’s ruler, the general populace
The unhappy morning,
The day with no purpose
The arrow of accusaion
The stone of abuse
Who else beside us is their intimate friend?
Who now in our beloved’s city is still pure?
Who now is worthy of the executioner’s hand?
Pick up the burden of the heart, let us go heartbroken ones.
We are the ones who have to be murdered again, my friends
Thanks for sharing.
Do you know if anyone (female) other than Nayyara Noor has sung this ghazal?
Thank you for posting the poem with meaning. For some time now, I have wanted to understand its full meaning and you have made it possible. Please post more of Faiz’s kalaam if you can.
Thank you.
