ham saadaa hii aise the, kii yuuN hii paziiraa’ii
jis baar KhizaaN aa’ii samajhe ki bahaar aa’ii
(saadaa : sincere; paziiraa’ii : to receive; KhizaaN : autumn)
aashob-e-nazar se kii hamne chaman-aaraa’ii
jo shai bhii nazar aa’ii gul-rang nazar aa’ii
(aashob : tumult; nazar : vision; chaman-aaraa’ii : view the garden; gul-rang : flower-like)
ummiid-e-inaayat meN raNjiidaa rahe donoN
tuu aur terii mehfil, maiN aur merii tanahaa’ii
(ummiid-e-inaayat : hope of reciprocation; ranjiidaa : sad)
yak-jaan na ho sakiye anjaan na ban sakiye
yuuN TuuT ga’ii dil meN shamshiir-e-shanaasaa’ii
(yak-jaan : one; shamshiir-e-shanaasaa’ii : the sword of gnosis)
is tan kii taraf dekho jo qatl-gah-e-dil hai
kyaa rakkhaa hai maqtal meN ai chashm-e-tamaashaa’ii
(qatl-gah-e-dil : the battle-field for the heart; maqtal : gallows; chashm-e-tamaashaa’ii : eyes longing for drama)
